Tinubu Honors Abdulsalami as Democracy's Founding Father

During a banquet at the State House in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honored General Abdulsalami Abubakar as a founding father of Nigeria's democracy. The event included the presentation of three books written in Abubakar's honor.

Tinubu commended Abubakar for his leadership during a critical period in Nigeria's political history, noting his role in restoring democratic governance within eleven months despite numerous challenges. He emphasized Abubakar's selflessness and vision, which laid the foundation for Nigeria's uninterrupted democratic experience since the transition to civilian rule in 1999.

Tinubu also directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to allocate land for the proposed Africa Resource Centre in support of democratic ideals. Other dignitaries, including former military leader General Yakubu Gowon and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, praised Abubakar's dedication to peace and stability in Nigeria, urging citizens to draw inspiration from his life and service.
