Tinubu Urges Peaceful Voting Ahead of Upcoming Elections

President Tinubu sent a strong message regarding the upcoming elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano State, and Rivers State, scheduled for February 21, 2026. In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, he urged eligible voters to exercise their right to vote without fear, highlighting that democracy thrives best in a calm and respectful atmosphere.

He appealed to political parties and candidates to shun violence and inflammatory statements that could undermine the credibility of the electoral process. President Tinubu also cautioned against high-handed actions that could intimidate voters and erode public trust.

He stressed the importance of security personnel being present to protect lives and property and to ensure the sanctity of the ballot. Furthermore, he called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to implement necessary measures to bolster voter confidence, ensure timely accreditation, and facilitate a smooth voting process in line with the 2026 Electoral Act.
