Trump and Xi Conclude Summit, Extend Trade Truce

President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping concluded a three-day summit, where they reviewed the US Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Trump stated that Xi described the US-China relationship as having developed into a constructive one.

The summit featured military flyovers, ceremonial tours, and a state dinner but left major differences unresolved, particularly regarding trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and China's ties to Iran. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced that details of limited trade agreements reached during the visit would be released on Monday.

The US and China agreed to extend a trade truce by two months, which was set to expire on November 10, allowing more time to negotiate a potentially larger trade deal. The US has agreed with China to exempt certain key goods from trade disputes, including agricultural products and medical devices.

Trump indicated progress in market access for US farmers and ranchers and announced plans for two more meetings with Xi in China in November and in Miami in December.
