Trump and Xi to Explore US-China Relations at Archives

President Trump and Xi are scheduled to visit the US National Archives to view significant historical documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. This visit aims to underscore the historical ties between the United States and China.

Analysts suggest Xi may be particularly interested in records related to the US's 1979 decision to recognize the People’s Republic of China over Taiwan. President Trump noted advancements under a bilateral trade mechanism, highlighting increased market access for US farmers and ranchers.

The two leaders also identified artificial intelligence as a potential area for cooperation. Taiwan remains a contentious issue, with Xi urging Trump to approach it cautiously and reiterating Beijing's opposition to Taiwan's independence.

The US Senate Democrats criticized the summit, asserting that Trump failed to secure meaningful concessions from Beijing regarding trade, security, artificial intelligence, and human rights, and called for the immediate delivery of approved military aid and arms sales to Taiwan.
