Tinubu's APC Primary Victory: A Test of Internal Democracy

Osita Okechukwu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), praised Bola Tinubu for his overwhelming victory in the APC presidential primary, which he described as a demonstration of internal democracy, contrasting it with the current issues faced by the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Okechukwu commended Tinubu's landslide victory, which was the result of a direct primary involving 8,809 electoral wards nationwide.

He pointed out that the election results from various states, including Ogun State (322,485 votes), Benue State (374,787 votes), Rivers State (280,082 votes), Delta State (407,646 votes), Abia State (161,005 votes), and Osun State (100,880 votes), reflect the trust of party members in Tinubu's leadership. However, Okechukwu cautioned that Tinubu's victory poses significant challenges for the APC, especially with high expectations for the 2027 presidential elections, amidst concerns over low voter turnout, hunger, insecurity, high unemployment, unreliable electricity supply, and a poor debt service to revenue ratio.
