Cooking Gas Prices in Nigeria May Hit ₦1,500 per KG

The price of cooking gas in Nigeria is projected to increase to ₦1,500 per kilogram as a result of dwindling depot stocks and rising domestic demand. Current average prices are approximately ₦1,300 per kilogram, with Dangote Petroleum Refinery selling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at ₦1,060 per kilogram and Ardova PLC at ₦1,065 to ₦1,085 per kilogram.

Olatid Jeremiah, Chief Executive Officer of petroleumpric.ng, indicated that the ongoing supply pressures could trigger further price increases. Additionally, a report from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority shows that domestic gas utilization is on the rise, with sales increasing from 52,300.45 million standard cubic feet in February 2026 to 55,903.72 million standard cubic feet in March 2026.

This increase aligns with the federal government's efforts to deepen local consumption of natural gas for power generation and industrial use, especially as Nigeria continues to face electricity shortages.
