Nigerian Anglican Church Severs Ties with Canterbury Over Same-Sex Marriage Support

The Anglican Church of Nigeria has severed ties with the Canterbury Anglican Communion following the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the new Archbishop of Canterbury. The Nigerian Church cited concerns over Mullally's support for same-sex marriage, which they view as a sign of moral decline in Anglican leadership.

In a statement signed by Primate Rev. Henry Ndukuba, the Nigerian Church expressed disappointment and warned of deepening divisions within the global Anglican family.

The Church reaffirmed its allegiance to the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) and encouraged Anglicans in England to uphold traditional teachings. This move signifies a significant rift within the Anglican Communion over theological and moral issues.
