BPP DG Advocates Proper Procurement for Good Governance

On June 10, 2026, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), addressed federal government agencies at a retreat organized by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in Abuja.

He stressed the necessity of following proper procurement procedures to enhance service delivery and ensure value for money, ultimately leading to user satisfaction. The retreat aimed to equip officials with fundamental knowledge of public procurement principles and strategies to avoid procurement offenses, including fair value for money and compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Dr. Adedokun highlighted the importance of strengthening procurement capacity to safeguard public resources and deliver quality healthcare services.

He clarified the roles and responsibilities of approving authorities and emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in public procurement, which he described as a cornerstone of good governance. He reiterated that every contract must be uploaded to the BPP website monthly and that quarterly reports on procurement activities should also be posted.
