BPP Launches 23 Reforms to Transform Nigeria's Procurement

On June 4, 2026, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) unveiled 23 significant reforms to transform Nigeria's public procurement landscape at an event held at the Afreximbank Africa Trade Centre in Abuja. Dr.

Adebowale Abraham Adedokun, the Director General of BPP, expressed gratitude to distinguished guests and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support. The reforms aim to enhance the efficiency and transparency of public resource management, building on the foundation laid by former leaders such as Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

Key aspects of the reforms include the establishment of a digital ecosystem for modern procurement processes, legal fortitude, fiscal oversight, and technological advancements. The reforms also emphasize local content policies, particularly in vehicle assembly, and aim to reduce corruption risks through improved compliance enforcement.

Dr. Emeka Ez, another key figure at the BPP, called for stronger sanctions against violators, reinforcing the need for adherence to due process in public procurement.
