BPP Urges Nigerian Ambassadors to Follow Procurement Laws

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), represented by Director General Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, has called on Nigerian ambassadors to comply with the country's procurement laws while functioning abroad.

During an induction for newly appointed ambassadors in Abuja, Adedokun stated that Nigeria's foreign missions are bound by the Public Procurement Act of 2007. He emphasized that missions must ensure that their procurement processes are transparent, competitive, and provide value for money.

Adedokun highlighted the necessity for missions to follow approved procurement plans and adhere to budget thresholds set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He urged that all contractors must meet mandatory eligibility criteria and that procurement should be a tool for good governance.

The BPP's initiatives align with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to promote local products and support marginalized groups through community-based procurement. The induction event also featured Zira Zakka Nagga, head of press and public relations at the BPP.
