Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has adopted a strategy of partnership with the executive branch, which is seen as beneficial for governance stability. This approach is illustrated by his decision to withdraw counter lawsuits against Senator Natasha Akpoti over a harassment case earlier in January.

Critics have noted a perceived weakness in the Senate's relationship with the executive, particularly regarding the approval of foreign loans and the handling of the controversial Rivers State emergency instrument of 2024. However, this cooperation is argued to be a strength rather than a weakness, as it avoids confrontational politics.

Additionally, in October, Senators Victor Umeh and Enyinnaya Abaribe raised concerns during a Senate plenary about the omission of a southeast nominee from the board of the National Communication Commission (NCC), indicating ongoing engagement with governance issues.
