Judiciary and NCC Workshop Tackles Digital Economy Issues

The Nigerian Judiciary Institute (NJI) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) organized a workshop at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, themed "Adjudicating in the Digital Era." The event, held in 2026, aimed to address the judiciary's increasing involvement in interpreting legal disputes arising from the digital economy. Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo emphasized the necessity for judges to possess a deeper understanding of telecommunications regulations to effectively address issues such as cyber fraud, online harassment, and the protection of digital infrastructure.

Hon. Justice Kudirat M.O. Keker-Ekun noted that the judiciary cannot remain detached from developments in the digital space, as these issues significantly impact public safety and privacy rights.

The workshop brought together senior judicial officers, telecom regulators, and industry experts to discuss the balance between innovation and constitutional rights in the face of emerging technologies.
