CJN Kudirat Keker Ekun Stresses Ethics in Judiciary

During the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Workshop on Judicial Ethics for judges of lower courts, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Kudirat Keker Ekun highlighted the critical role of ethical conduct and integrity in fostering public confidence in the judiciary. She noted that the judiciary serves as the primary interface between the public and the justice system, and every interaction shapes public perception of fairness and integrity.

Ekun stressed that the absence of ethical discipline undermines public trust and confidence in judicial processes. She acknowledged the increasing scrutiny of judicial officers in a rapidly advancing technological environment and emphasized that judges must uphold the dignity and impartiality of their profession.

The workshop, which aims to provide a platform for sharing knowledge and addressing ethical challenges faced by judicial officers, was organized by the National Judicial Institute, with contributions from John Inyang Okoro and Babatunde Adejumo. Ekun expressed optimism that the workshop would enhance ethical consciousness and strengthen the profession.
