Protesters Demand Democracy and Rule of Law in Abuja

On a designated day, a group known as Aegi Northern Nigerian Concern staged a peaceful protest in Abuja, advocating for the entrenchment of democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria. The protest aimed to draw urgent national attention to any threats against constitutional order, particularly concerning the judiciary's involvement in political matters.

The demonstrators, led by Banki Shariff, emphasized that the survival of Nigeria's democracy hinges on adherence to the rule of law, free from political pressure. They specifically called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resist any attempts at judicial interference.

The group warned that undermining public trust in democracy could lead to widespread unrest. They urged the Attorney General of the Federation to remain neutral and uphold the rule of law, cautioning the judiciary against relying on technical administrative actions that could weaken political parties, especially those with strong support in Northern Nigeria.

The protest underscored the critical need for the judiciary to maintain its integrity and legitimacy.
