Nigeria's Police Recruitment Deadline Extended as Applications Hit 400,000

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has extended the deadline for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks due to the overwhelming response of 400,000 applications received nationwide. The application portal opened on December 15, 2025, and will now close on February 8, 2026.

The extension was deemed necessary by the PSC to address the significant disparity in application numbers across states, with Adamawa, Benue, Kaduna, Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra recording high levels of participation. In contrast, some states had comparably low application numbers.

The PSC aims to ensure equitable representation across the federation and has urged eligible Nigerians, particularly in states with low participation rates, to take advantage of the extended application window. The Commission emphasized its commitment to a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process, with applications to be submitted exclusively via the official portal.
