Nigerian Police Commission Promotes Top Officers and Thousands of Inspectors

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has announced the promotion of one Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), two Assistant Inspector Generals of Police (AIGs), and 26,119 Inspectors to the next rank. The promotions were approved during the 3rd plenary meeting held on January 29, 2026.

The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd), ratified the elevation of AIG Funsho Adegboy to the rank of DIG, along with the promotions of AIG Danjuma Aboki Dansabo Idi and other officers. The promotions were based on a merit-based process, including written exams and oral interviews.

DIG Funsho Adegboy has served in various leadership roles, including at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) headquarters in Abuja and in international missions. The PSC Chairman commended the newly promoted officers and emphasized the Commission's commitment to transparency and meritocracy in appointments and promotions.

The Board, led by DIG Dr. Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd), ensured a thorough examination and interview process.
