PSC Promotes Fayoad Adegok Mustapha to DIG Rank

On February 20, 2026, the Police Service Commission (PSC) announced the promotion of Fayoad Adegok Mustapha from Assistant Inspector General (AIG) to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG). This decision was based on Mustapha's outstanding performance in a written examination and oral interview process, as stated by PSC spokesman Torti Njoku Kalu.

Mustapha began his career in 1992 and has over three decades of distinguished service. Prior to his promotion, he served as AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command in Lagos, where he earned acclaim for community policing initiatives and operational strategies, including the dismantling of a notorious billionaire kidnap gang.

His career is decorated with numerous national and international awards, including the 2024 Crime Buster of the Year for West and Central Africa. Hashimu Salihu Argungu, the chairman of the PSC, expressed confidence that Mustapha's expertise in technology-driven policing will enhance Nigeria's security architecture.
