PSC Denies N5m Bribery Claims, Considers Legal Action

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has categorically denied allegations made by Sahara Report, which claimed that senior police officers paid N5 million to secure promotions to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torti Kalu, the PSC described the allegations as unfounded and a reckless attempt to tarnish the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

The PSC emphasized that promotions for senior officers, including CSP and ACP, follow due process and established guidelines. The commission expressed grave concern over the report and indicated that it is considering legal action against Sahara Report for defamation and damage to its reputation.

The PSC urged the public to disregard the claims and reiterated its commitment to merit-based promotions within the Nigeria Police Force.
