Nigerian Police Commission Promotes Over 26,000 Officers to ASP Ranks

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has announced the promotion of 26,119 officers to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The promotions were approved during the PSC's third plenary meeting.

Among those promoted were officers like Funsho Adegboy and Danjuma Aboki Dansabo Idi, who were elevated to higher ranks. The promotions were ratified by the Commission's Chairman, Hashimu Salihu Argungu.

The process was based on a merit-based system, including written exams and oral interviews. Funsho Adegboy has served in various capacities, including as the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Police Mobile Force at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Danjuma Aboki Dansabo Idi has also held significant positions in different states and commands. The PSC has emphasized its commitment to transparent and merit-based promotions within the Nigerian Police Force, with the examination and interview process overseen by Taiwo Lakanu.

This recent promotion exercise follows a previous approval by the PSC to promote 774 senior police officers to higher ranks in December 2025.
