PSG Seeks Postponement of Ligue 1 Match Against Lille

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has formally requested the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to postpone their Ligue 1 match against title rival Lille, which is set for April 11, 2024. This request comes as PSG prepares for a two-leg UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool, with the first leg at Lille and the second leg at Anfield.

Lille currently leads the league table and has issued a statement strongly opposing PSG's request, citing concerns about the integrity of the league and the potential for clubs to prioritize European competitions over domestic commitments. Lille's head coach, Pierr Sage, expressed dissatisfaction with the idea of postponement, emphasizing that it undermines the competitive nature of the league.

PSG's spokesperson noted that rescheduling matches has been a common practice in the past to benefit French clubs in European competitions. The LFP has also confirmed that Strasbourg has requested a postponement for their match against Brest for similar reasons.
