PSLC Celebrates 20 Years of Autism Care in Nigeria

The Patrick Speech Language Centre (PSLC), founded by Mr. Dotun Akand in 2006, marks its 20th anniversary, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing autism care in Nigeria.

The centre has impacted thousands of children and families through early intervention and multidisciplinary therapy services. It has trained 300 therapists and provided subsidized initiatives via its non-profit arm, PureSoul Learn Foundation.

The recent art exhibit themed "Legacy Unfiltered" showcased the talents of individuals on the autism spectrum, emphasizing the importance of creative expression. Akand noted that the centre aims to create employment opportunities for young adults with disabilities and plans to launch programs that include theatrical productions.

The centre's approach focuses on identifying and developing talents among individuals with special needs, ensuring they have meaningful contributions to society. Akand's vision for the next 20 years includes expanding opportunities for showcasing talent beyond Nigeria, reinforcing the centre's commitment to transforming lives and narratives surrounding autism.
