PSLC Celebrates 20 Years, Launches Disability Advocacy Campaign

The Patrick Speech Language Centre (PSLC) marked its 20th anniversary with a press conference in Lagos, where founder and director Mr. Dotun Akind announced a new initiative focused on shifting the narrative around disability towards economic participation.

Established in 2006 with an investment of N45 million, PSLC has supported thousands of children and families through multidisciplinary therapy services and early intervention programs. The centre has trained 300 therapists and caregivers to expand access to these services.

Akind emphasized the need for systemic change to empower neurodiverse individuals as contributors to the workforce and the economy. To commemorate the anniversary, PSLC plans to launch a year-long national advocacy campaign featuring storytelling and performing arts initiatives, including original dance and drama, aimed at addressing societal perceptions of disability and promoting inclusivity.

The campaign will also seek partnerships with corporate organizations and policymakers to support the initiative and develop programs that promote talent among neurodiverse individuals.
