PTDF Launches Nigeria-UK Scholarship for Oil Research

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has introduced a Nigeria-UK scholarship scheme designed to enhance practical research in the oil and gas sector. Prof.

Abdulkadir Alkali announced this initiative in Kaduna during the second phase of screening for PhD candidates under the overseas scholarship scheme. The program aims to bridge the gap between global expertise and local industry needs by promoting a transnational education model that allows beneficiaries to study partly in Nigeria and partly in the United Kingdom.

The screening process for PhD candidates involves strict credential verification and merit-based shortlisting, emphasizing the relevance of practical research. The exercise, monitored by Dalhatu Ibrahim, reflects the federal character principle, ensuring fairness and transparency.

Dr. Alowolodu Olufunsho from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, highlighted the importance of practical impact in research proposals.

This initiative is part of PTDF's broader effort to strengthen manpower development in the oil and gas industry.
