NSC Urges Unity in Nigerian Basketball Ahead of Elections

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has called on stakeholders within the Nigerian basketball ecosystem to prioritize the interests of the game as the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) prepares for its elections later this year. The Director General of the NSC, Hon.

Bukola Olopade, emphasized the importance of unity and the growth of basketball in Nigeria, urging stakeholders to place the sport above personal interests during this crucial time. He highlighted that the current NBBF board's tenure has been extended until October 15, 2026, with elections to be conducted no earlier than September 15, 2026, and no later than October 15, 2026, following the conclusion of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup scheduled for September 2026.

Olopade reiterated the NSC's commitment to supporting the stabilization and progress of basketball structures in Nigeria, aligning them with international best practices to safeguard the nation's participation in global competitions.
