Usman Bany Wins APC Candidacy for Katsina Reps Seat

Usman Bany has been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Katsina Reps seat representing the Rimi, Charanchi, and Batagarawa federal constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. This decision was made during the APC primary held on Saturday in Charanchi, where two other aspirants voluntarily withdrew from the race, submitting letters of withdrawal to endorse Bany.

Dikko Radda, the Katsina State Governor, attended the exercise, where he raised Bany's hand to signal party support. The Katsina APC chairman, Bashir Gambo Saulawa, noted that the electoral act recognizes direct primaries and that the consensus arrangement for candidate selection remains a preferred option to promote unity and reduce disputes within the party.

Yakubu Maccido, chairman of the APC consensus screening committee, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent. Meanwhile, the APC primary for the Daura, Sandamu, and Mai Adua federal constituency is still ongoing, with reports indicating that Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, is facing opposition from other aspirants.
