Ramadan Fasting Begins February 18, 2026, Says Sultan

The Sultanate Council, led by Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has officially announced that Ramadan fasting will commence on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. This declaration was made by Prof.

Sambo Wali Junaidu, the chairman of the advisory committee on religious affairs. The Sultan extended his greetings to the Muslim ummah in Nigeria, wishing them guidance and blessings from Allah during the holy month.

He urged the Muslim community to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country. Additionally, it was noted that a member of the committee, who preferred to remain unnamed, indicated that the Sultan is currently abroad, and an official announcement regarding the Deputy President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Shehu Borno, will be made soon.
