Nigerian Tomato Farmers Reassure Stable Prices During Ramadan Amid Bumper Harvest
The Tomato Grower Processor Market Association Nigeria, represented by its Kaduna State Chairman, Mr. Rabiu Zuntu, has allayed fears of a price hike for tomatoes during the upcoming Ramadan fast. The reduced consumption during Ramadan, with Muslims skipping breakfast and lunch, is expected to lower demand and subsequently prices. Currently, a 50kg basket of tomatoes in the northern market sells for between N7,000 to N10,000, with recent prices dropping due to logistical issues.
