Backlash Over PDP's Zoning of Presidential Ticket to South: Northern Groups Protest

The PDP's decision to zone the presidential ticket to the South at its NEC meeting faced backlash from the Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations in Kaduna. The Northern group rejected the zoning arrangement, citing it as a betrayal of the North's longstanding support for the party since 1999.

Ambassador Sanin Yaya of JACON argued that the North had significantly contributed to the PDP's power over the years and deserved fair representation. The group vowed to mobilize against the decision, emphasizing the need for equitable power-sharing within the party.

Prof. Ktso Nghargbu from the North Central region also warned the PDP about the consequences of ignoring the North's demands for a power shift.
