President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi's tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term. This decision has sparked mixed reactions among stakeholders.

Shehu Mustapha, the National Coordinator of the Coalition of Young Nigerian Librarians, emphasized the importance of continuing the implementation of ongoing reforms and completing the National Library headquarters project as part of the 2025-2030 strategic plan.

Mustapha acknowledged Professor Anunobi's significant contributions to reforming the National Library since her initial appointment in 2021, which included developing operations for the National Repository of Nigerian Newspapers and the establishment of a virtual library for Nigeria. The reactions reflect a broader concern regarding leadership in the country's literary and educational sectors.
