Tinubu Announces Key Appointments in Education Sector

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced new appointments in the education sector, as detailed in a statement released on Wednesday. Modup Adeola Adelabu has been appointed as the chairman of the National Examination Council (NECO), while the current registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, will retain his position.

Additionally, Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed as the rector of the Federal Polytechnic N.Yak Shendam in Plateau State, succeeding Dr.

Mukaila Zakari Ya'u, whose tenure expired on March 16, 2026. Binfa's appointment will be for a single five-year term, following a public advertisement process that will conclude in September 2025.

Furthermore, Professor Babatunde Salako has been appointed as the chairman of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the incumbent executive secretary, Professor Idris M. Bugaji, has been reappointed for a second and final five-year term.

The statement also confirmed the renewal of Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi's tenure as CEO of the National Library of Nigeria for her final five-year term, having first assumed office on September 2, 2021.
