Reekado Banks ‘Laments’ Exit From Mavin Records As ‘Premature’

Nigerian singer Reekado Banks recently expressed regret over his premature exit from Mavin Records, the label founded by Don Jazzy. In an interview on the Echo Room Podcast and on Instagram, Reekado Banks admitted that he was fixated on charting his own course and felt the need to leave the label, even though his contract allowed for another two years.

He recalled a lighthearted moment with Don Jazzy, who advised him that "nobody can beat you." However, Reekado Banks now realizes that his departure was premature and that staying longer under Don Jazzy's guidance could have taught him valuable lessons about accountability and responsibility. Despite the split being amicable in 2018, Reekado Banks still feels grateful to Don Jazzy for shaping his career and treating him like a son.
