CSOs Urge Tinubu to Ensure Economic Reforms Benefit Nigerians

Civil society organizations (CSOs) have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that his economic reforms lead to improved living conditions for Nigerians. In response to Tinubu’s 66th Independence Day address, Sylvanus Udoenoh, executive director of CREAP Africa, acknowledged the President's claims of economic growth and declining inflation but stressed that these gains must be felt at the community level.
Udoenoh highlighted that many Nigerians continue to struggle with basic needs such as food, education, and healthcare. He emphasized that the transition from 'reform to prosperity' should be measured by the tangible benefits experienced by citizens.
Udoenoh called for a renewed social contract based on citizen participation and accountability. Similarly, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), pointed out that Nigerians are suffering from economic corruption and governance failures.
He stated that while reducing the cost of living is a priority, it requires addressing deeper governance issues.
