NECO's Wushishi Reports 2026 SSCE Results Amid Challenges

Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), released the results for the 2026 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) in Minna, describing it as the most tasking and complicated examination he has conducted during his tenure. He reported that 1,371,992 candidates participated, comprising 678,903 male and 693,089 female candidates, including 1,334 candidates with special needs.

The results showed that 804,948 candidates obtained credit in English and Mathematics, representing 58.67 percent, while 1,162,118 candidates achieved five credits and above, regardless of English and Mathematics. Wushishi expressed pride in the results, highlighting the commitment of NECO staff to maintain the credibility of their certificates.

He also noted a significant decrease in examination malpractice, with only 1,406 candidates involved in 2026 compared to 3,878 in 2025, marking a reduction of 74.74 percent.
