Omokri Calls for El-Rufai's Prosecution Over Allegations

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide and ambassador-designate, has renewed his call for the prosecution of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, over alleged killings and a theft of ₦423 billion during his tenure. Omokri's demand, made via a social media post on Friday, focuses on the troubling legacy of El-Rufai's eight years in office, particularly concerning human rights violations and the suppression of dissent.

He referenced the condition of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaki and the massacre of 347 Shia Muslims, claiming the death toll could be close to 1,000. Omokri also mentioned the case of Abubakar Idri, a critic of El-Rufai who was presumed dead after being abducted.

He accused El-Rufai of demolishing properties linked to political opponents and highlighted the alleged financial misconduct involving ₦423 billion. Omokri dismissed claims of political targeting and emphasized the need for justice.

Tensions escalated recently at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport when security agents attempted to arrest El-Rufai upon his arrival in Cairo, leading to protests over due process violations.
