Reps Committee Issues Final Warning on Port Probe

The House of Representatives Committee, led by Hon. Davidson Akinlayo, has given a final warning to several government agencies, including the Nigerian Customs Service and the Nigerian Port Authority, for failing to submit requested documents for an investigation into port concessions from 2006 to 2025.

This probe aims to ascertain the revenue benefits accrued to the federal government from these concessions. Akinlayo emphasized the committee's commitment to conducting the investigation transparently and democratically, urging agencies to cooperate fully.

He expressed concern over the lack of response from heads of agencies and warned that the committee may invoke constitutional provisions to compel compliance. The committee noted that despite invitations, agencies such as the Nigerian Customs Service have not provided the necessary documents, which could hinder the investigation's progress.

Akinlayo stressed that the committee will not tolerate contempt towards Parliament and is determined to fulfill its mandate.
