Reps Give 7-Day Ultimatum to Airport Agencies for Docs

The House of Representatives has mandated relevant agencies and concessionaires to submit necessary documents within seven days as part of an investigation into the performance and benefits accrued from federal government concessions at air and sea ports. The chairman of the ad hoc committee, Hon.

Kolawole Davidson Akinlayo, stated that the committee already possesses extensive records covering the period from 2006 to 2025. The required submissions will allow for verification and comparison with data already submitted by agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Port Authority, and others.

The committee has proposed a 72-hour deadline for submissions following an interactive session. Akinlayo emphasized that failure to comply could lead to consequences, including possible referrals to prosecutorial bodies.

He reiterated that the investigation is not a witch hunt but an oversight function aimed at improving transparency and accountability in Nigeria's maritime and aviation sectors.
