Reps Committee Promises Enhanced Funding for NiDCOM

The House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, chaired by Hon. Chinedu Tochukwu Chiker, has assured that necessary inputs will be made to ensure improved budgetary allocations for the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in the upcoming fiscal year.

This assurance was given during an oversight visit to NiDCOM's office in Abuja, where Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, was present.

Chiker commended Dabiri-Erewa for her impactful leadership over the past seven years, despite limited resources, and stressed the need for increased funding to enhance the commission's effectiveness. He emphasized that the diaspora affairs in Nigeria require significant support to enable NiDCOM to manage its functions optimally.

Dabiri-Erewa reiterated the need for stronger financial backing to fulfill NiDCOM's mandate and highlighted ongoing initiatives, including a review of the national diaspora policy and the upcoming Global Nigerian Diaspora Investment Innovation Summit scheduled for August in Toronto, Canada.
