Agbese Urges Opposition to Protect Nigeria's Image Abroad

Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, addressed journalists in Abuja on Thursday, warning against opposition politicians damaging Nigeria's international reputation for political gain ahead of the 2027 general elections. He specifically urged U.S.

President Donald Trump to disregard politically motivated lobbying concerning historical U.S. law enforcement records related to President Bola Tinubu. Agbese emphasized that political disagreements should not harm Nigeria's image or the welfare of its citizens abroad.

He stated that desperate politicians exporting their political battles are not only hurting Tinubu but also every Nigerian abroad. Agbese called for scrutiny of the motives behind those lobbying against Nigeria and insisted that foreign governments should not be used to resolve domestic political disputes.

He cautioned the Federal Government to remain focused and not be distracted by these politically motivated attempts to create controversy around the President as the 2027 elections approach.
