Agbese Critiques Opposition's Foreign Lobbying Against Tinubu

Philip Agbese, the deputy spokesperson, criticized opposition politicians for their attempts to use political channels to press allegations against President Bola Tinubu, stating that such actions could severely damage Nigeria's international image and negatively impact Nigerians living abroad. Speaking in Abuja on September 2, Agbese responded to reports of efforts to bring allegations about Tinubu to the attention of U.S. officials and Congress.

He emphasized that while opposition politicians have the right to criticize the government, there is a boundary that responsible politicians should not cross. Agbese questioned the reliability of the civil forfeiture documents being circulated as evidence against Tinubu and urged the American government to scrutinize the motivations behind the lobbying efforts.

He called for opposition figures to address their grievances through Nigeria's electoral and judicial processes instead of seeking foreign intervention. Agbese affirmed that the House of Representatives would defend Nigeria's national interests and urged political disputes to remain within democratic institutions.
