Reps Extend Probe into Airport and Seaport Concessions

The House of Representatives has extended its investigation into airport and seaport concession agreements, as explained by Kolawole Akinlayo, the chairman of the ad hoc committee. The committee, inaugurated in February 2026, is tasked with determining compliance with contractual obligations, assessing revenue remittance to the government, and evaluating the impact of these agreements on infrastructure development across Nigeria's aviation and maritime sectors.

The committee has engaged with various stakeholders, including government agencies and private sector operators such as Dangote Group and APM Terminals. Akinlayo disclosed that significant progress has been made, with the first phase of the investigation nearing completion.

The committee is expected to resume its activities after the legislative break on July 7, with a report anticipated within the next two months. The investigation involves several key agencies, including the Nigerian Port Authority and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, reflecting the strategic importance of the aviation and maritime sectors to the nation's economy.
