Reps Minority Caucus Commits to Constructive Opposition

The Reps Minority Caucus, under the leadership of Abdussamad Dasuki, has pledged to provide a constructive opposition, setting the record of former Minority Leader Femi Gbajabiamila from 2011 to 2015 as a benchmark. Dasuki emphasized the caucus's core mandate of accountability, transparency, and legislative scrutiny to enhance the lives of Nigerians.

He stated that the caucus would not oppose for opposition's sake but would focus on promoting good governance. Dasuki drew inspiration from Gbajabiamila's leadership style, which he described as a model for effective opposition that contributed meaningfully to legislative debates and national development.

The caucus also called on northern governors to collaborate on regional security challenges and urged federal and state governments to engage with neighboring countries to combat insurgency. Additionally, Dasuki addressed the minimum wage debate, asserting that state governments should not wait for federal approval to increase wages, particularly in light of Nigeria's economic challenges.
