House of Reps Adjourns to Honor Late Gombe Lawmaker

The House of Representatives adjourned its sitting on Tuesday to honor the late Gombe lawmaker, Bauchi Tongo, who passed away on June 12, 2026, at Nizamiy Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness. Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu led the members in observing a moment of reflection for the deceased legislator.

During the brief plenary session, prayers were offered for Tongo's soul, with Usman Kumo from the All Progressives Congress leading the Muslim prayer and Cyril Hart, also from the APC, leading the Christian prayer. Kalu urged members to attend the sitting to honor their late colleague, despite the absence of legislative business.

The House subsequently adjourned until Wednesday, when legislative activities are expected to resume.
