Governor Alia Urges JAMB to Reschedule Exams for Kidnapped Students

On Sunday, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to reschedule the examination date for eight candidates who were kidnapped last Wednesday. This request was made during a press briefing after the rescue of 13 victims, including the students, by security agents.

The governor emphasized the need for JAMB to consider the circumstances of the kidnapped students, who were traveling to Otukpo for their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) when they were abducted. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when gunmen attacked a vehicle carrying 18 passengers, resulting in the kidnapping of several individuals.

Governor Alia commended the efforts of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and other security agencies for their diligence in rescuing the victims and urged them to continue their efforts to eliminate criminal elements in the state. He also directed the State Commissioner for Health, Dr.

Paul Ogwuche, to ensure proper medical checks and treatment for the rescued victims.
