Nigerian Resident Doctors Declare Five-Day Warning Strike Over Welfare Issues

Resident Doctors in Nigeria have declared a five-day warning strike starting from September 12 to September 16, 2025, due to unresolved issues affecting their welfare. The decision was made during an online meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association of Resident Doctors.

The strike is expected to impact teaching and specialist hospitals nationwide, further straining the already burdened healthcare system in the country. The doctors have cited unpaid allowances, poor welfare conditions, unresolved salary arrears, and inadequate funding as reasons for the industrial action.
