Nigerian Resident Doctors Give FG Four-Week Ultimatum Over Unmet Demands

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a fresh four-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to fulfill outstanding agreements on salaries, allowances, and welfare. This decision was reached at a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) held during a scientific conference in Plateau State.

The NEC, jointly signed by NARD President Dr. Mohammad Suleiman, Secretary-General Dr.

Shuaibu Ibrahim, and Public Relations Officer Dr. Abdulmajid Ibrahim, appreciated the roles of stakeholders like President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang in ongoing negotiations.

The NEC expressed frustration over delays in implementing agreements, including the approval of salary arrears and professional allowances. The communiqué also warned of deteriorating labor relations in some health institutions and urged prompt government intervention to prevent disruptions in healthcare services.

The conference featured key addresses by Professor Nentaw Goshw Yilwatda and Prof. Piwuna Christoph, among other dignitaries.
