Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspend Nationwide Strike

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced the suspension of its nationwide strike, which was initiated due to the federal government's failure to address key demands. Dr.

Uthman Adedeji disclosed this decision during an interview on Tuesday, confirming compliance with the directive from NARD's national executive council. The strike was suspended after the federal government reversed its stance on the controversial professional allowance and committed to addressing outstanding issues raised by the association.

As a result, doctors at the University College Hospital (UCH) will resume duties at 8:00 AM on Wednesday. However, no new patients will be admitted until the morning of the resumption, allowing for proper handover of current patients.

The association emphasized its commitment to patient care while urging the federal government to urgently address their demands to prevent further disruptions in the health sector.
