Atiku's Petrol Subsidy Proposal Criticized for Economic Risks

He asserts that the removal of the subsidy was essential to stop economic deterioration, as Nigeria was borrowing to fund it. Awogbenle highlights that Atiku's plan for a producer-based subsidy, aimed at local refiners, is impractical given the current realities of the oil sector, including prior commitments to creditors.

He warns that reviving the subsidy would be politically opportunistic and detrimental to Nigeria's economic recovery.
