Retired General Advocates for Ovia Osese Festival Support

Retired General Erema Akerejola has urged the Kogi State government to strengthen its support for the annual Ovia Osese festival, which he describes as a vital cultural asset with significant tourism and economic potential. Speaking about the festival in Ogori Ogori, Magongo local government area, Akerejola highlighted that the Ovia Osese festival has existed for decades and is cherished by the Ogori people, attracting visitors from far and near.

He emphasized that the festival serves not only as a symbol of tradition but also as a major driver of tourism capable of boosting the local economy if properly harnessed. Akerejola called on the state government to explore ways to promote the festival on a larger scale, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community and generating revenue for both Ogori and Kogi State as a whole.

He noted that with proper planning and strategic promotion, the Ovia Osese festival could achieve global recognition as a cultural event.
