Atiku Abubakar Promises Fuel Subsidy Restoration for Nigerians

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced his intention to restore the fuel subsidy if he is elected as President of Nigeria in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. He articulated that the restoration of the fuel subsidy is aimed at enabling Nigerians to benefit from local production, thereby allowing them to have "more money in their pockets." Atiku made these remarks in response to a supporter on X, emphasizing that the subsidy would not be for imported petrol but rather to encourage domestic production.

He expressed a desire for families to have more financial flexibility, stating that he wants mothers to return from markets with more food, fathers to manage transport costs while retaining some money, and small business owners to finish their day with profits. Atiku's focus is on reducing fuel and transport costs to alleviate pressure on food prices, ultimately increasing the disposable income for families.
