Aisha Yesufu Rejects House Seat for Senate Bid

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent activist, turned down an appeal from Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and Seriake Dickson, the party's leader, to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the AMAC Bwari Federal Constituency. Instead, Yesufu expressed her intent to run for the Senate seat representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Brian Denni, a party official, explained that Amanda Pam had already established a grassroots campaign for the Senate ticket, which influenced Yesufu's decision. Despite Obi's encouragement to consider the House of Representatives for a beneficial political trajectory, Yesufu declined, citing her desire to pursue a Senate position.

Dickson, who had previously committed to supporting Pam's candidacy, was unable to reverse this commitment. Yesufu's withdrawal from the race was influenced by her lack of assurance regarding the Senate ticket and her belief in starting her political career at a higher level.
